Segway Tours are one of the most popular activities for vacationers in South Florida. They are extremely fun, easy, and affordable for anyone looking for fun things to do in Fort Lauderdale. With the best prices in all of Broward County, we have Segway tours in Hollywood Beach (10-15 minutes south of Fort Lauderdale), Segway Tours in Fort Lauderdale, and Segway tours in Boca Raton (25 minutes north of Fort Lauderdale).
Segways first came out back in July of 1999. Fifteen years later, there are many people that have never heard of or even seen the Segway. This unique machine is one of a kind, operating off your body motion. Does this mean you have to have balance to ride a Segway? No, it doesn’t. This amazing piece of technology is built to balance you! With proper training, it doesn’t take the average person more than 3-5 minutes to become 100% comfortable riding it. It doesn’t matter if you are 60, 70, or even 80!
The Segway, by Florida Statute 316.2068, is classified as an Electric Personal Assistive Mobility Device and is actually made for people who need help getting around. It is allowed to be driven in any 25 mph speed zone or less, and any side walk or bike path with ease to pedestrians. We even offer free lessons if you’d like to come try it out! Since July 1999, Segway has released the i2 and the X2, second generation Segways. The main difference between the two is the battery life. With a fully charged battery in good condition, an i2 should receive 20-25 miles. An X2 on the other hand only receives 10-12 miles fully charged.
How much does a Segway cost?
The price of a brand new Segway PT i2 retails for just about $7,000. For a brand new X2, they are just about $500 more. Used, you can expect to find second generation models ranging between $4,000 to $5,000. If you do choose to go this route, make sure you know what condition the batteries were kept in. You will have a very big headache spending roughly $2,000 to replace your batteries when they die. Give us a call if you have any questions about batteries, or buying new and used Segways.
